Hi we’re New Mexico Environment Department!
New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) is the state agency responsible for protecting New Mexico’s environment and public health through regulation, monitoring, and enforcement of water, air, and land contamination programs. NMED collaborates with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to sample drinking water systems, surface water, and private wells to test for PFAS contamination. Through the implementation of the PFAS Protection Act, it is gradually phasing out intentionally added PFAS in consumer products.
